My Direct Opposite, My Lost Friend

My direct opposite, my lost friend

He is my friend, long lost in the midst of shining environment as the darkness consumes me, I tried to escape but I can’t, I’m sorry. He taught me how to love, I taught him how to hate, he taught me how to live, what did I gave him? Nothing but a negative thought coming from the side of me, coming from my head. He’s bright, I’m not. As he shines I turned to be his shadow.

In the past, I remember where we used to be as one, from there I realize we can’t be together because I am me, and you are different.

Still, my memory of you cripples me in my nap, as I, untroubled, often see you in my dreams asking what I have done. I tend not to respond.  As you come closer I choose to flee, without any intention of turning my back. But as the days goes by, without you by my side, the darkness begins to glow, darker than I thought.

As I started to hate you I started to hate myself. This time I think I’m lost. Do you still remember when we started to dream? Put a smack on the face of those people who laugh about our delusions? I do and I laugh every time. Do you remember the time we laugh? Or the time we cry? The time where we don’t have anything and anyone but just the two of us watching the sky… where both of us wanted to fly? I do, and sometimes I cry. What a pathetic person right?

You were cherished, loved, and they cared about you, while I was viewed as a monster, as I battle with the demons inside me, people start hating me, thinking I’m different, and I am weird. And these might be the reason I chose to give up on you. I just wanted to fix myself at that time, but it seems I destroyed you, and now you are nowhere to be found. The worse things happen at that time as I introduced myself to these dangers (smoking and liquor) the thought of fixing me, became just a thought. It looks like the world is turning itself in front of my face so slowly.

Do you miss me? Maybe not, because you don’t show yourself anywhere and you’re nowhere to be found. Do you know that I lost my precious smile? My adored laugh, and warm personality? I communicate less just to avoid being in pai . As I reminisce about the past, I just realized I needed you. I’m sorry for our past, maybe it was there to happen but I didn’t know it will be the cause for us to separate ways. What happens in that day happens and I know we cannot do anything about it. I miss you.

He’s my direct opposite, my old friend; my long lost me, lost as I dwell with this toxic society, lost as I was nurtured by this dirty environment, and lost as I was nurtured by my painful past. He wanted to be successful, waiting for his big shot, playing to be the best, and represent his country in that platform, while I was waiting for my day to stop, hoping I won’t be awake again. He is lost as he waits himself to be me again.

All I can say is goodbye, just for this time, the day I will be you again, we will chase those clouds and make our brightest days. This time, just this time, let me fix what I needed to fix, so we can be together, chasing our dreams and smile again. I’m still fine and don’t worry.

This time let me embrace the fading darkness before I decide to leave it, find a motivation for my every day, and let me leave this negativity in my head. Let’s face this world together like in the past. Now, I won’t leave you behind, you will have me at your back wherever you go.

I apologize that I chose not to talk to you, ignore you, and let my ego go through. I hope you will forgive me. There will be a certain time, I will be able to find you, I promise to treat you better than everyone and cherish you.

Please accept my apology made just for you.

Hello “I” this is for you…

Hey there. I know that you’re going through a lot but I want to talk to you for a second.

You aren’t a bad guy. You aren’t a monster. Sometimes it’s okay to lose

Everything you did can be forgiven. You know why? Because the only person who hasn’t forgiven you is you.

You’ve told everyone you know and love and trust about what was bothering you. Why you felt like you did something wrong. What you did wrong, and guess what? They still love you. Just some tho…

That’s right, they love you and care about you, and believe in you.

All that’s left is you. No one else

I’m sorry I went against you. I’m sorry that I didn’t believe in you.

I’m sorry that I doubted you and thought that you were the vilest piece of human garbage to ever exist. I was wrong

I’m sorry that I didn’t work hard enough to process your grief. I’m sorry that I didn’t do my best to stop you from processing in an unhealthy way. I’m sorry that I did all these things to you and didn’t think about their future repercussions.

I’m sorry that I didn’t tell you that I love you and you are loved. So let me tell you now, I love you, and someone, somebody, is rooting for you.

I love you, and that’s why we’re still here. Why you haven’t given up, why you keep trying every day to live.

Because deep down I know that despite all you’ve done, you’re worth loving. I know this because you changed. I watched you changed.

You want to grow past your mistakes and don’t ever want to look back. You want to grow into the best person I know you can be and I know you mean it too.

Don’t worry, because I’ll have your back. I’ll always look out after you.

Say it with me now.

I love you. I believe in you. You are not a bad person and don’t you ever forget it.

Believe that there is someone watching you, look at the sky, dark or bright, day and night he’s watching you. I’ll find you soon, goodnight.

Panagbenga vs. Novel Corona Virus

Credits to the Owner

January 2020 gives us a lot sufferings, calamities and disasters from the eruption of Taal Volcano, Australia’s deadly bushfires, floods in Dubai and Indonesia, Storms that landed in Texas, Alabama disaster who takes lives 11, and also the death of my childhood hero, Kobe Bryant. Hello 2020, hello Novel Corona Virus, you’re the reason why the awaited Panagbenga Festival was postponed and rescheduled. Disasters bring it on!

Baguio City known as the Summer Capital Region of the Philippines with its cool climate making it a great place to escape the scorching heat. Known for tropical forest, home of pine trees “City of Pines”. Place where one of the most popular feast of the country takes place, the Panagbenga Festival, month long flower occasion that is held yearly in the month of February. Not just that it also offers tourist to experience the rich culture and history of Cordillera by visiting BenCab Museum, Heritage Hill and Nature Park Garden, Mines View and Camp John Hay.

Panagbenga was rescheduled though.

This might be a big “ouch” for the people who eager to attend and watch the magnificent incoming parade and the eye-catching view of Baguio City but according to statement Mayor Benjamin Magalong last January 31 of 2020 “After due deliberation, I would like to make an announcement that I am cancelling the Panagbenga street parade tomorrow, “We’re doing this because we just would like to be pro-active about it. We’re very much concerned about the health of our residents and visitors in the city. And we’re just making sure that we’re doing everything pre-emptive,” he said in a press conference.

The rescheduled of Panagbenga activities are the following:

March 15 – Handog ng Panagbenga sa Pamilya Baguio including Let A Thousand Flowers Bloom, Cultural Show, Open Kite-Flying Competition and Fireworks Display

March 21 – Opening Parade

March 22 – Panagbenga Cultural Dance Competition

March 28 – Grand Street Parade

March 29 – Grand Float Parade

March 30 to April 5 – Session Road in Bloom

It was rescheduled, so it will continue in the said date. Is this not a risk taking decision? Or is this the right decision?

According to the updates of Department of Health there are 3 confirmed cases of Novel Corona Virus in our country as of February 19, 2020 and they advise the people to avoid the crowd. As for me, the decision made by the Mayor of Baguio City is the right decision not because of the greed for money but because it was taken into consideration not just the health of the public and the residents of the city but also to control the spread of the said virus. So this, this decision, rescheduling of the said event is not a big deal as the residents and also the tourist coming in the said schedules will get to enjoy the activities and also the tourist spots of Baguio City.

Yes, Novel Corona Virus is not a joke, the medical experts doesn’t have a conclusion on how it can be cured so please don’t rely to the information we see on internet for it can mislead a lot of us, what I wanted to point out is for us to feed ourselves with reliable sources released by the Department of Health or World Health Organizations. We must take precaution to this epidemic, brace ourselves and protect our body. In the said dates for the Panagbenga Festival, audiences, let us wear medical mask follow the Centers for disease Control and Prevention for using face masks, for people that are suffering illness like headaches stay at home and watch in your television it can also give you a better view about the activities that will be held, don’t take risk or better yet, consult your doctor or seek medical care before you attend and watch the parade or visit the city, be healthy so you can enjoy the rest of the day, and last but not the least appear in the festival in an hygienic way, wash your hands, wash your body.

I think we can help the other people to enjoy watching this incoming events by preventing this Virus and helping the Baguio City:

  1. Clean and Green- trashes won’t help us on anything, proper waste disposal is a must.
  2. Abide with the rules- there’s a lot of ordinance we need to follow, we residents, and we visitors. Example is the No smoking Ordinance, we have smoking areas though.
  3. Let’s respect each other- Baguio has a lot of problems let us not add to them.
  4. Avoid the crowd- at least 1 meter according to the World Health Organization.
  5. Cover your Cough. According to the World Health Organization the virus can be spread if other people breathe into the small droplets that are contained by the cough.

This are just tips but our discipline can help us go through.

Of course let us not forget to enjoy the feast, leave nothing but footprints, and acquire nothing but memories. Tourist, Visitors you are welcome to the city of pines.

Anime is not just fiction. It’s also about real life lessons.

Parents have always raised concerns about their kids getting addicted to watching anime movies.

However, research studies have claimed that anime movies can be used as a good study tool for kids.

Examples are:

  •  Cells at Work, this anime has become one of the biggest hits of the season, entertaining and educating fans about the fundamentals of our own biology.
  • Dr. Stone, While the series is fictional, all the concepts in Dr. Stone are based on concepts in real life. Merely the ideas are replicated and not the methods entirely.

The research analysts have enough points to substantiate the findings. Many of the anime movies can motivate Kids to grow successful in life and teach them the importance of hard work.

Moreover, in Japan learning Japanese is considered of immense value right from childhood. Thus, language is no more a concern for kids as watching anime series can help them to grasp the language gradually.

Some mangas and anime brings out the creative side in them and enables them to think out of the box in real life situations. Here we can have a look at some of the important educational benefits of watching anime series or movies.

1. Learn More About Novel Areas:  Student life is the phase when they start learning about new things and explore new ideas in life. These movies teaches students about areas which they might not come across in their academic syllabus but are useful for them at some point in their life. For example, they can learn about mental health conditions such as PTSD if they watch School Live and Narcolepsy if they watch Little Busters. Many elements that are projected in some anime movies may seem interesting at present but are valuable or useful later in life.

2. Can Learn Real Life Lessons: Having a good understanding about the real life situations well in advance confers students with the ability of proper decision making . Knowing how the heroes have overcome hardships in life help them to think out of the box, save the situations and grow successful. Even the comedy series are more subtle if you check the element of conveying real life lessons. Anime series including My Hero Academia, A Silent Voice and Orange are popular in terms of teaching real life lessons. These series enable students to learn to respect their parents and be thankful and avoid bullying others and most importantly to get rid of their arrogance.

Another anime that gave me real life lessons is the Anime Series Naruto(from his childhood up until his Married Life) and this is for me to:

  • Stay determined and never go back on your words

-If anyone could teach someone about staying determined and to follow their word, it’s Naruto. Having the nine-tail fox demon in him since birth, Naruto was shunned by the Leaf Village. At first, Naruto felt pain because of this but instead of dwelling on it, he turned it into drive to fulfill him dream of becoming hokage and proving to everyone that he’s more than what’s inside of him.  To some people, “Naruto” might just be anime but to me, “Naruto” is where I can find a lot of motivation and learn valuable things in life. I recommend this anime for those people who lacks motivation in life. I promise it will be worth it.

3. Increased Social Interaction: The modern society have witnessed that many of the students are turned to introverts. However, the influence of anime movies has made a noticeable impact on increasing their interaction and they start behaving more social. Kids of working parents can avoid boredom and the depression of being alone in their free time by watching anime movies. This not only takes off their pressure of loneliness but also gives them a feeling of happiness. They can also get connected to other students who watch anime and thus make new friends.

4. Learn About Value Of Relationships: In today’s world, we have seen that the relationships have started losing its value. However, many good anime movies have projected the importance of relationships and the love for anime has persuaded students to keep up such values in their life. Hopefully, such anime series can help students to understand the value of relationships in life and inspires them to give out some effort to maintain them.

5. Understand Moral Values In Life: One of the most important benefits of watching anime movies is learning about keeping up moral values in life. The series such as Haikyuu teaches students about the importance of teamwork in getting things done and why they are crucial in achieving success. DBZ is a popular series that inspires students to come out of the limits, push oneself up, keep on practising, set goals and do enough hard work while chasing dreams. The New Game anime series teaches and inspires students about undergoing struggles to achieve what they want in life and to overcome the troubles of starting as a beginner. They also learn other human values such as righteousness, generosity, honesty, courage and patience.

6. Improved Interest In Culture And Language: It is quite common for students to have least interest in the country’s culture as they prefer fun elements. Surprisingly, anime movies are a good option for them to learn more about the Japanese culture in an entertaining fashion. They slowly start having interest in learning more about the culture and related areas. Even if the extent of understanding might be very little, having some sorts of insights into the culture can help them to grow closer to the culture. Also as these movies are made with Japanese audio clips, they can learn the Japanese language a little more easily and get more fluent with it pretty quickly. The students who are born or brought up outside the country can keep in touch with the culture.

7. Improves Creativity And Critical Thinking: This form of storytelling can enhance their creativity and students can start exploring their creative side along with excelling in academics. This improves their drawing skills that help them to start exploring the areas of animation and architecture. Those students who are truly inspired even start designing their own anime characters and develop their own mangas. In fact, this is a good alternative for kids’ stories as this is a form of imaginative story telling.

Parents do realise that the educational value of anime is immense. Watching anime is not always all about fun but the best part is about its learning possibilities. Apart from these benefits, watching anime can teach students about the importance of proper communication.

Like every other areas, anime addiction can have some negatives if kids tend to copy only the hatred or trouble making aspects of anime. Parents have to keep a check on the types of anime being watched by the kids and help them to sort out the suitable ones. If they make watching anime with educational values a part of their routine, parents can find it easy to mould their character right from the childhood.

People say anime is just a fiction, and it really hurts me. So please take a time to watch some of it.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
